Masham (pronounced Massum) is at the entrance to the Yokshire Dales and is a delightful and historic small market town on the river Ure in lower Wensleydale on the edge of Nidderdale which is a designated Area of Natural Outstanding Beauty. This is the land that time forgot.
There is plenty to do in Masham and all is within walking distance of Bank villa. Home to both Black Sheep and Theakstons breweries, quality restaurants and a good selection of traditional, lively pubs. Masham has a twice weekly market and some fascinating individual shops and galleries around the large market square. You can spend days here without needing to use your car.
Throughout the year Masham has Beer Festivals, Music events, Steam Fair and Traction Rally, Arts events, bonfire and firework display and a fascinating ‘Sheep Fair’ in September.
